Chanel Camelia de Chanel Illuminating Powder

Artfully embossed with the iconic Chanel camellia, a sheer highlighting powder captures and reflects light for a delicate, luminous glow. In a rare, limited-edition red case and accompanied by a half-moon brush for easy, optimal application.

Highly anticipated Chanel Camelia highglihter was hard to get! After couple of failed attempts to order it, canceled orders I managed to get my hands on one. I think Chanel is not really ready for stalking hoards of women ready to press that “order now” button. Plus Chanel’s customer service as always proved to be left out in the dark without any information and not being able to help the customers.

To be honest with you since Lucia Pica took over Chanel I have been pretty disappointed with most of the items released except the Joues Contraste Elegance (reviewed HERE ) . She definitely has the thing for red color and it can be seen here too as she created limited edition red lacquered case.

Camelia de Chaenel is light golden beige and definitely leans warm , with soft shimmer throughout – I have seen some complains that it has chunks of glitter but I have to disagree with that – it has very refined shimmer that gives the most beautiful glow to the skin. There is really nice base color that blends almost into skin tone especially if your skin is in the fair/light range. Texture seemed too firm at first but once  swatched it proved I was wrong – it is soft, pigmented and easy to blend.

Camellia pattern is stunning. Once I opened it it just took my breath away. If you love good higlighter and if you love Chanel you definitely need this beauty in your collection.

Camellia was Coco’s favorite flower.  Coco Chanel first fell in love with the camellia after reading Alexandre Dumas’ ‘La Dame aux Camélias’, a story in which the heroine always wore a white camellia, showing to the world that her heart remained pure. It was also loved by Chanel because, when wearing the flower, its lack of scent meant it never interfered with her most famous perfume – No. 5.

Compared to two other Chanel highlighters I own Camelia  is definitely warmer and has stronger beige undertone and more shimmer, Camelia de plumes is lighter and brighter with more silvery undertone while Poudre signee is the most neutral of the three and has the least amount of shimmer.  I hope you find this comparison swatch helpful. At the moment my skin is Beige 10 / MAC nc15

L-R : Camelia de Chanel, Camelia de Plumes, Poudre signee de Chanel

Chanel Camelia de Chanel is still available at chanel.com where I purchased it for 70$
