Hourglass Holiday 2017 – Ambient Lighting Edit 3 & Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette

I am a big fan of Hourglass powders and finding out that they will release not one but two new limited edition palettes really made my heart skip a beat! Of course, I had to get both of them and here are my thoughts.

A limited-edition Ambient Lighting Edit 3 featuring three best-selling and three new exclusive shades for a flawlessly lit complexion. This travel-friendly palette of lighting essentials takes you from day to night so you can create your perfect light anytime, anywhere. This collectible palette is available exclusively this season. From a fresh, youthful look for day to a sophisticated, vibrant look for night, this edit is everything you need to finish, brighten, contour and highlight your skin. Each shade is formulated with the brand’s Photoluminescent Technology to capture, diffuse and soften surrounding light for skin that appears softer, younger and lit-from-within.

The palette comes in beautiful rose gold packaging (rose gold lovers unite! You can put anything in rose gold and I am sold!)  and has the Hourglass signature look. Three of the six powders are new shades that are exclusive to the palette. That includes the strobing shade in Hypnotic Strobe Light and the two blushes in Surreal Halo and Pure Effect. You might be surprised by the size of the palette and the amount you are getting – yes it is pretty small. It is not a value palette but it is perfect for a gift, or for someone who hasn’t tried any Hourglass powders before or even for a travel. You are getting basically everything you need for your complexion in one palette. I love to use Dim light as all over finishing powder with a light hand or if I overdo my cheek color I like to go over it with Dim light to tone it down. Dim light is also perfect highlighter for someone who likes extremely soft and subtle highlight. Luminous bronze light is a great bronzer for lighter skin tones. These are the only two shades that I had from the palette and my most used ones from Hourglass so I felt it’s a good deal for me to get it. Blush shades are somewhat bright for my pale skin but with a light hand they look really beautiful – just a right amount of color.

Here is the rundown of all 6 shades from this palette:

Dim Light – A neutral peach beige powder that blurs imperfections and highlights the complexion
Diffused Light – A soft, warm, pale yellow powder that conceals redness and gives skin clarity
Luminous Bronze Light – A medium tan shade fused with Luminous Light for a softer, candlelit warmth
Surreal Halo (new) – A deep berry blush fused with Surreal Light for a vibrant flush of color
Hynotic Strobe Light (new) – A champagne powder infused with multidimensional pearl for a sublime highlight
Pure Effect (new) – A bright petal pink fused with a glimmering rose for a youthful glow

A limited-edition palette of Ambient® Metallic Strobe Lighting Powders that provides the brightest highlight to the skin. Each shade is formulated with intensely concentrated, multifaceted pearl particles in varying sizes and refraction levels to give the most reflective glow to the high points of the face. The velvety texture ensures a smooth application as it glides across skin to reveal your most intense, amplified highlight, while the concentrated formula utilizes photoluminescent technology to intensify the way light reflects on the skin.

Being a highlighter junkie that I am I was so excited to try the newest formula from Hourglass. I do not own any of the other Strobe highlighters to compare but here are my thoughts on this trio. The new formula is very intense (yes I do like my highlight to be noticed from space) but at the same time, it’s very wearable. In my experience, these applied with a brush seem to look more subtle, while applied with fingers (or as suggested Hourglass sponge) the effect is really beaming.  Both of the new Hourglass palettes are not to be missed either buying for yourself or for a gift they are beautiful, wearable and highest quality as always expected from Hourglass.

Absolute Strobe Light – A soft pink metallic pearl powder for a captivating highlight
Pure Strobe Light – A pale gold metallic pearl powder for an exquisite highlight
Lucent Strobe Light – A rose gold metallic pearl powder for a magnetic highlight
