High-society darling, artist, pop philosopher, muse and jewellery designer Bao Bao Wan is one of China’s most renowned style stars. Her debut collaboration with M•A•C is inspired by her womanly and brazen aesthetic, with metallic golds and rich jewel tones reflecting her trademark decorative designs. Eyes are gilded in bronze, skin twinkles like a diamond, lips flicker like rubies and nails outshine even the most precious gems. The collection is outfitted in velvety brown packaging featuring burnished metal, embellished with her signature. Nodding to tradition while trailblazing new trends, M∙A∙C and Bao Bao Wan invite every face to take centre stage.
A powder that delivers a subtle luminescent glow. Micro-fine, sheer and silky. Pressed for portability. Goes on lightly. In limited-edition Summer Opal. Special luxe velvety brown packaging with Bao Bao Wan’s logo.
Since the first info on Bao Bao Wan Collection was leaked I had my eye on Summer opal beauty powder. It seemed like it would be beautiful highlighter and I was not wrong. It gives a tiny bit more of a color than some other lighter colored beauty powders and even though it seems like it has large golden shimmer it is actually quiet subtle when applied.
Packaging is unusually square for MAC but very nicely done. I like the combination of brown with golden letters.
Summer opal is truly a star of this collection. MAC beauty powders are mainly finishing powders but some have more shimmer and are mostly used as highlighters, others have more color to it so they can be used as a blush… I guess that makes them so special – plenty of combinations of how you can wear them.
Texture of Summer opal is soft and smooth and applies very easily and evenly. I wore it as highlighter over a bronzer and a blush, and also as a cheek color combined with NARS St lucia multiple (I used this multiple as a base to enhance the color and then gently applied Sumer opal on apple of my cheeks).
MAC described this color as “light bronze with golden shimmer”. On me color is more of pinkish beige with golden shimmer. I do not see this as “bronze”.

My review is almost useless since the product sold out in two and half seconds after it was released. Nordstrom had terrible launch. It was said it will launch at midnight – I was up trough the night at 2am, 4am, 4:45 am and still missed out on a product. I gave up and said forget it I am too old for these MAC games. Then later during the day whole collection magically showed up on MAC website. MAC needs to stop playing their “hard to get games”. I am tired of them.
